ABOUT US
"The Southern Village Aging in Place" (SVAIP) organization was established in 2013 and now has over 100 members. We meet monthly at a member’s home for a two-hour social with wine and light hors d'oeuvres – called a Pub Crawl. Although we have focused primarily on the benefits of social networking, we are expanding to provide more activities and interest groups.
SVAIP has established a Steering Committee to assure continuity of the organization, coordinate activities, facilitate Interest Group participation, periodically survey membership with ideas for change, communicate with other AIP groups in Chapel Hill and conduct the Annual Meeting. The Steering Committee includes a chair person, treasurer, secretary, several coordinators for the pub crawl and interest groups, and webmaster for this website.
“Aging in Place” refers to grassroots organizations that have sprouted up in neighborhoods around the Country. Their mission, structure, and sophistication vary widely, depending upon their individual goals and such factors as availability of local resources, age of the members, and size of the group.
